Very Good Reading Site to practice for IELTS
Use the link below to practice reading for IELTS. There are many levels starting at beginners. If I were you, I would start with Grade 4 or 5, then work up. These readings use proper form for writing--good introductions, topic and support sentences for each paragraph and good conclusions. They are not very long. They also use good academic words.

--- This website explains the program. So it seems you train to be a medical lab technician and some universities—University of Alberta and Dalhousie also offer a degree program. The certification allows you to work in labs. Now if you want ‘cutting edge’ research where you develop cures or study diseases, this is another degree completely

University of Calgary Website for Writing, November 2012
Here is an example of one of the links on the website for advice on technical and scientific writing.
http://web.mit.edu/me-ugoffice/communication/technical-writing.pdf
Here is the main website for articles on writing.
http://www.ucalgary.ca/ssc/writing-support/online-writing-resources
I suggest that you read over some of the sites in your area of study. The technical writing one above shows good and bad examples of word choices, amount of information, how it is given and so on. It is clear and simple to read through.
The second website has a list of notes--use the menu at the left side of the page to access information on essay writing. Topics are listed under Online Writing Resources.
